Live and Fly and Be

Good morning!!  Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoy this and if this is a blessing to you I ask that you please share. Feel free to leave comments below. Enjoy!

                                                                               Live and Fly and Be

Tall full green trees surround me, flowers dance in the grass of the field blown back and forth by the cool morning breeze. The birds sing their morning song and I hum along as I wait for you. First I pace, then I calm and sit and listen. This is the perfect place, so discreet, peaceful, sweet. I think about when I first met you it seemed impossible that you would notice me. Your standards, your name but you are not who others claim or think or believe.

I close my eyes and remember when you first called my name feeling so ashamed, unworthy dirty defiled. Not fit for one with your character. Wooing me, beckoning me with your unrelenting love I surrender my heart, my dreams my all to you willingly, confidently, unregrettingly, unashamed. I am not the same. I was once as a pigeon or crow no real beauty or meaning. Life unfulfilling, abandoned, marooned. No one chased me as a butterfly or wanted me like a diamond, never called me precious or valued or loved.

You saw something different something I’m not sure I even saw myself. I saw what they see though that was not the real me. Real was hidden deep inside pleading to get out and you were the craftsman who knew how to delicately tediously relentlessly break me free, let me live and fly and be.

The brook runs quietly, the sun peeks through the leaves, butterflies drink the morning dew. Still the earth is cool, quiet and asleep as I wait and hear you softly speak. Your still small voice soothes me guides me loves me tenderly passionately deeply.  It fills me completes me encourages me to live and fly and be.

How Can You Know You Have Heard From God

Thank you for stopping by. As always it is a privilege to have you here. I would like you to get a cup of coffee, relax on the sofa and kick your feet up as we dig into the Word of God.

As a Christian after salvation and baptism, one of the biggest challenges we face is hearing from God. Not because He’s not speaking but because we need to learn to have ears that hear. Math 11:15, Mark4:9. How do we develop ears that hear and why?

Let’s first answer why. Let’s face it, once we’re saved the questions then become, who am I? And, what am I called to do or what am I created for? Why am I here?  These questions or rather the answers to these questions are what point us to our purpose. The answers to these questions may determine what we do for the rest of our lives. And the only way to know the answers to these questions is by seeking the One with the answers, Jesus.

When it comes to building character the Bible is the best and sole place for instruction. If you need direction on patience 1Thes5:4, James5:7-8, hope Heb. 6:11, 10-20, perseverance Romans 5:3-4, 2Cor 12:12. Don’t lie, steal, and commit adultery or murder Math 19:18. Be loving, patient, kind, selfless, do not boast and keep no record of wrongs 1Cor 13, Gal5:22-23.

What about the questions that aren’t so obvious? Such as, what am I called to do? Ephesians 4:11-16 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, […]16by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. To know the answers to these questions we need to seek and ask Him. Deut. 4:29, Jer. 29:13, Math7:7.  And as we are seeking and asking Him, how can we know we have heard from Him? That’s the big one, how can we know we have heard from God?

One good way is to keep a journal. This has been very helpful for me. I keep a journal of things the Lord has said to me. This is a format I use:

In this journal I write

1.  What the Lord said to me.

2. I ask for confirmation from His word.

3. I seek personal trusted godly counsel.

4. Lastly I write down what happens and compare it to the confirmation from His word and from godly people. The reasons I do this are that I am looking for consistency in my ability to hear and I am continually developing listening ears.

The best way to hear the voice of God is practice.

Thank you for joining me on this journey through hearing and listening to the voice of God. My prayer is that this has been helpful and encouraging to you. You are welcome to leave comments as well as insight on what helps you know you hear the Lord.

If this has been helpful to you, please share on Facebook and Twitter so others can enjoy it too! Thank you!!

#Living Letters

First let me say that I am honored to have you here. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read my blog. I look forward to digging into the Word of God with you and anticipate some wonderful conversations along the way. Let’s get started…

I was pondering an interesting thought the other day about what it means to be an #author. I was fascinated by where my thoughts led me. I was reminded of #scripture that says in #Hebrews 12:2looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. So I looked up the definition of author and this is what I found; Author- A writer of a book, article, or document. We knew that already but check out this next definition. An originator of a plan or idea. Is that incredible or what!

An originator is an inventor, creator, designer and maker; all of these are attributes and names of God. Should I be surprised? Surprised no, elated yes; why? Because for me as a writer it is amazing to see how even our language can and does point us to an #AuthorGod.

Ok so what has this Author written? This is the breath taking part. Epistles (fancy word for letter) Check this out. Epistle- A poem or other literary work in the form of a letter or series of letters. It gets better. 2 Corinthians 3:2-3(KJV) 2 Ye are our epistle (letter) written in our hearts, known and read of all men: 3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle (letter) of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

Wow! Powerful, right? Living letters for all to read. I wonder what words an Author like this uses to write these letters. Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is living and powerful… He uses living and powerful words so that these #living letters (us, our lives) would be living examples of His living love.

               Go live something powerful today!
